California Dreaming

The sun gives everything a warm glow, as though you have on a pair of sepia-toned frames. Notes of toffee and caramel to complement crisp whites - a touch of earthy sophistication for a contemporary palette - and gold hardware to create a glistening accent that’s not too bold but cool and chic.

California is a land for dreamers. Where balmy nights beacon you to find comfort by the seaside, and a pulsing sense of inspiration fills the atmosphere. Style pervades the Californian culture to create the coveted ‘it girl’ aesthetic. It’s whimsical and fun yet timelessly feminine. We love seeing this mood transpire into a contemporary bridal look that pushes the envelope through unique accessories and styling. From jewellery to table settings and everything in between, we are California Dreaming.

Begin with a warm palette – variations of brown, sienna, peach and mustard – these tones have a slightly more androgynous and edgy take on feminine. We are drawn to neutral tones and eye catching textures that form a beautiful balance between depth and simplicity. Velvet is such a decadent fabric that pairs well with earthy colours, elevating the look completely. Suede also channels a similar feel and makes for the perfect tan accessory. A subtle nod to the 70’s, these textures are both vintage and contemporary, a phrase that could also be used to describe the quintessential Californian look.

As for the environment, we imagine a relaxed celebration outside where you can see the stars. Or an intimate dinner reception in a small studio or lodge. There’s wooden furniture, it’s dimly lit and – is that a champagne tower over there in the corner? A live band, probably some friends of yours, fill the room with sweet melodies and guests dance in a world of their own to tracks like ‘I’m On Fire’ by Bruce Springsteen and ‘Fade Into You’ by Mazzy Star. Design details are pared back and understated. A few stand alone florals to adorn the tables alongside aromatic candles and incense, the musky smell of sandalwood and tobacco permeates the space.
