Wednesday 27th April 2016
Brides today are spoilt for choice, not only when shopping for their bridal gown but when it comes to accessories and jewellery to style their entire wedding day look. The options are endless and beautiful. Our friends at Love Find Co. have pegged their favourite accessory trends for today's modern bride.

HAIR VINES AND HALOS

Move over flower crowns, the new hair accessory are hair vines and wraps.  Delicate jewelled chains featuring beads, pearls and crystals, that are feminine, three dimensional and versatile. Anya from accessory brand Bride La Boheme says “beautiful and understated halos and tiny bridal pins are hugely popular”. Hair vines look great with a loose hairstyle, an undo or an unstructured look. Our favourite way of using a hair vine is incorporating it in a disheveled braid.

PEARL

Pearls are a beautiful accessory for your wedding day look. Innovative accessory designers are incorporating pearls into intricately detailed hair adornments and head pieces, which is making this distinguished gemstone highly sought after for 2016 (on and off the runway). From a heavenly pearl halo by Lelet NY, to meticulously crafted pearl headbands by Viktoria Novak.

MOONSTONE

While moonstones are generally thought of as quite ‘bohemian’, the sacred stone is beautifully iridescent when clustered with natural, platinum metals. With its unique opalescent, pastel hue this stone is simply ethereal and is being used in jewellery, belt and headpiece designs. Anya comments, “I think something celestial and mysterious, but minimal in its look would definitely appeal to the 2016 bride.” Beautifully poetic, the moonstone depicts a romance between the moon and the ocean and symbols great love, passion and good fortune.

GOLD

White gold and silver have been popular metals for many years, but we are seeing a huge return to yellow gold in a big way.  “Australian brides are looking for something very minimal and sleek, yellow and more so rose gold,” says Anya.  Brides are given regal options, with crowns and headbands in gold featuring floral designs to really make a statement on their wedding day. Tania from Percy Handmade agrees, “we are set for bridal looks fit for a queen this season. Expect to see brides floating down aisles adorned in delicate crowns and ethereal floral headpieces in gold, silver and rose gold tones.”

VEILS WITH LACE EDGING

Veils with lace detailing are by far the biggest trend we saw don the runway during the recent bridal week in New York. Beautiful and elegant cathedral length veils finished with wide trim embroidery.  “The vintage-inspired look has been taken up a notch with effortlessly glamorous and opulent veils and detailed accessories that add drama in the most elegant and sophisticated way,” says Tania. We are seeing a trend for more simplistic and structured gowns which is perfect for adding one of these veils as a statement for your walk down the aisle.
