We first came across this clever, wayfaring paper creator through her Instagram account.  Ever since discovering her feed we have been completely in awe of her visual story board of pastel coloured panoramas, intricate architectural details and kaleidoscopic patterns. A trail of photographic bread crumbs connecting every corner of the world she has visited.

Have you ever just met someone and known instantly that you’re going to be great friends? We certainly have. Emma Kate’s irrepressible personality and exuberance for life had us mesmerised (she really did have us at hello!) A heart-led decision to study graphic design at university was a decision Emma Kate has never looked back on. “I’ve always lived and breathed creativity,” she declares. Inspiring romance and candid moments through beautifully crafted stationary and words that stir the soul, Emma Kate has built a paper empire and loyal following world wide.

After traveling around Europe for two years Emma Kate returned to Australia, which she explains was “an abrupt exit of one life trajectory and a brand new beginning of anything that I wanted.” Burning with a desire to capture her wanderlust soaked time abroad, Emma Kate poured her memories into a brush-lettered stationary collection. “The collection is for dream seekers, dream catchers and dream weavers.”

Emma Kate’s personality is undeniably reflected throughout her latest project, Wild Hearts. Each piece mirrors her thirst for adventure and exploration. This same sentiment is also carried through the bespoke wedding and engagement stationary she designs. From save-the-dates, to huge canvas artwork commissions for decorating reception barn sheds and beautiful thank you cards for sending after your big day. Emma Kate creates all kinds of special, limited edition stationary for when you need to say congratulations, thank you or I love you.

“I love working with brides through their whole wedding story. I’ve also been thrilled to see my gift tags, greeting cards and wrap being used as wedding stationary and event styling.”

Take one look at Emma Kate’s social media feeds and there’s no second guessing where she gets her inspiration from. “Travel, of course! Travel is my teacher, my inspiration source, my everything.” It seems every day she experiences a ‘pinch-me’ moment. From the white sandy beaches of Praia Do Camilo to the exotic doorsteps of Marrakesh, Emma Kate leaves a little piece of her heart each step of the way. “Going freelance allowed me to work from my laptop anywhere in the world.” Emma Kate has definitely used her location independence to the fullest. “Hot air ballooning over Cappadocia in central Turkey would definitely be a standout. The beauty of hundreds of bobbing balloons against an orange sky utterly knocked the breath out of me.” Our hearts pang with jealously.

Back home in Adelaide, it’s not all fun and games. “I work really hard. Really hard. There are huge hour days and long, long nights being poured in to navigating this dream.” When Emma Kate is not dreaming up her next adventure, she tends to live in cafes, “coffices” (coffee office) as she calls them.

“I’d love to say that I float in to a converted warehouse studio loft space, with takeaway coffee in one hand, clicking my red patent flats up the stairwell . . . but I work out of the spare bedroom in my home, for now.”

As this dynamite lady continues to take over the world one greeting card and canvas print at a time we can only imagine what’s next. “One word. Jewellery!” she says. “I would love to get into textile design and interiors. Publishing a travel book would be a dream.” Watch this space.
