Grapefruit Summer Cocktail Recipes

Summer is a great time to experiment with flavoursome concoctions that take advantage of all the wonderful citrus and seasonal fruits on offer. A feast for the eyes, grapefruit has a sour flavour profile that pairs well with fresh herbs for a refreshingly zesty combination. Get out the mixers and gather your gang for a festive celebration where any excuse will do.

Honey Paloma Cocktail – by Design Love Fest

1 cup fresh ruby red grapefruit juice

2 tablespoons fresh lime juice

2 tablespoons honey

3 ounces tequila

ice as needed

top with club soda

2 tablespoons water

Grapefruit and Sage Champagne Cocktails – by Floating Kitchen

2 bunches of fresh sage leaves

6 tbl. Pink grapefruit juice

3 tbl. Sage simple syrup (1 cup sugar; 1 cup water; fresh sage)

2-3 dashes Angostura bitters

Half cup Champagne (or other sparkling white wine)

Ice cubes

Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and heat to medium-high until it begins to simmer. Stir occasionally until the sugar has dissolved entirely. Add in the sage and stir for a further thirty seconds. Remove from heat and set aside. You can remove the sage leaves once the syrup has cooled down. To make the cocktail, combine the grapefruit juice, sage syrup, bitters and shake vigorously. Pour over ice and top with champagne. Add sage leaves to garnish.

3 ounces high quality vodka

juice of one fresh grapefruit (about 6 ounces)

6 ounces club soda

1 ounce gin

1 ounce Campari

1 ounce Lillet Blanc

1 wedge pink grapefruit

twist of grapefruit peel, for garnish

Fennel, Black Pepper and Grapefruit G&T – by This Healthy Table


1/4 sliced fennel

chilled tonic water

whole black pepper

grapefruit to garnish

fennel fronds, to garnish


For this cocktail, you will need to prepare the gin in advance, allowing it to infuse with the flavour of the fennel overnight. Add the sliced fennel to a glass container of gin and set aside to infuse for at least eight hours. Take six tablespoons of the infused gin , add eight tablespoons of tonic water, one teaspoon of peppercorns and a slice of grapefruit. Top with ice and add a sliver of fennel to garnish.

2 ounces grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed

1 ounce simple syrup or agave, optional

2 ounces Tequila

ginger beer
