Rings of Distinction

Monday 26th September 2016
The rules of engagement have changed and while diamonds might still be a girl’s best friend, now we want them in all shapes, sizes, colours and combinations. As tiny and compact as a wedding band is, it bonds a relationship and engenders an unceasing trust between two individuals. When style plays a decisive role in every aspect of your wedding day, we want to ensure it extends to the purchase of your wedding ring too.

Whether your style is vintage or vintage inspired, cushion-cut or rose gold plated, it’s important that you put some thought into selecting a ring that defines your unique personality and one which will remain timeless for years to come. The engagement ring is only the beginning of your love story and choosing a wedding band that compliments your engagement ring design will look effortlessly more streamlined. As for design, less than traditional jagged geometric stones, variegated gems, pear-shaped and marquise-cut diamonds are at the forefront of modern engineering and craftsmanship.

Few diamonds are perfect. With that said, the distinct and simply incandescent defects and inclusions found in a single stone have inspired a whole new division of pointed prism rings. While geometrical forms and tarnished textures reflect Art Deco period displays, they also convey an aura of modern elegance and sophistication. Angular pyramid motifs and abstract influences with subtly set diamonds, perfectly parallel a thin platinum band.

Valued for their intensity and their distribution of perfectly transparent colour properties, coloured diamonds are dramatically more transcendental. Canary yellow diamonds with eye clean clarity possess an otherworldly softness. While the warmer champagne and rose hue striations offer a sumptuous vintage accent and creamy disposition. Made not by man but by the heart of the earth, the smooth spherical semblance of a deep navy sapphire is regal beyond measure. Which ever colour you choose, it is as if each stone releases independent mystical qualities when it catches a slither of the light. Strikingly beautiful.

A curved wedding band stacked on top of a solitaire style or multi-stone engagement ring creates a beautiful duality between contemporary and classic. Opt for a pear-shaped or marquise-cut diamond (see chart below) to become the hero of your set. The piercing clarity and delicate barbs of the tear drop diamond are glacier-like.
